I asked the bank whether they have voyageurs, and they said they have $1 bills instead. Some are still pretty crisp but most are pretty "rotten". I gave back 3 of the worst ones (they were dirty 1973s folded to limpness and tears) and got penny rolls instead. Luckily the teller was a former collector so he handled the bills very gently While I understand why these 2 1954s were turned in (they probably only grade G-VG): I don't understand why the crisp one was. Sure, the corners and top edge is a bit ugly, but it is in great condition otherwise. I'm scanning on a green background now so it's easier to see where I could crop it, I hope no one patented that one before Question, devil's face or no? Her hair does seem to be darker than in the other bills. Coinsandcanada seems to be down, I can't access there to check for grading. Every time I try going there it says "Access denied for user 'numica'@'localhost' (using password: YES)". I'm just going to guess and say F-VF. I have an idea with the more worn 1973 ones (the ones that don't look to be worth more than face), I will pencil a message on the reverse to give to my friends as a farewell gift since I'm graduating at the end of June. Opinions? Edited by Altaira 05/31/2014 01:49 am

I give that note a UNC, Devils face. Coinsandcanada is also down for me. However, by accessing the cached wersion of the website and according to my Charlton 2014 Coin Guide, it says $115 on Coinsandcanada and in the charlton catalogue, $120.
Good Pickup. :-)

My first Devil's Face! From the bank! And it's crisp! I wouldn't grade it higher than low XF at most and I already feel like I'm crazy overgrading saying that. I can see slight circulation, and counting machine marks on its corners. There's a minor fold right down the middle, and a small vertical crease through the OF in the back. Here's some more pics if it helps. Looks like I was right to exchange for penny rolls, I got a 1935 wheat in one! That's awesome since I usually only found 2 wheats each box andrewbi, how do you access a cached version? CoinCollector2000, I'm not an expert on bills either since I focus on coins, but when the teller pulled this crisp bill out, I just couldn't pass up on it I have to have it! Wasn't even paying attention for Devil's Face since it's so nice and crisp

I would say it's a candidate for grading EF.... all depends on those creases and folds you speak of.
Yes the note is a devils face.... congrats...

You couldn't actually see the minor fold and you can barely see the small crease looking head-on. But, you can see it when you tilt the bill, bottom part facing you. But the corner folds look quite obvious. Here's the part I think might keep it from getting a high grade, the top part is pretty much all smashed up. Maybe it wasn't very clear in the other pics, so here it is. And no the note isn't see through, there's a table lamp behind the note. Didn't see it until I uploaded the photos, sorry. By the way, the Devil's Face shows clearer on screen than in hand for some reason This last pic being a very nice one showing.

Wow, that's a cool find....no better than XF though.....someone had been saving it for 60+ years, until it fell into the wrong hands and they spent it.

I feel very lucky to have found this bill. Whatever happened to it in the past, it's all behind it. Can't do anything to change it, can't I? I will do my very best to give it a good home, like whoever first saved this bill And I still need a grading guide I hope coinsandcanada comes back up fast! Edit: I think I should just leave it in the banknote holder for pics then, keep it nice and straight? By the way, the teller handled the crisp notes by the edges. Are you also only supposed to handle banknotes by the edges too?

Thank you! I guess the person who saved this bill should get a thank you too for keeping it in great condition I never thought I'll own a Devil's Face since I don't collect bills that much, but I got one so early into my collecting hobby. The bank just happened to have someone bring it in that day, and I happen to be the lucky person to pick it up, for a dollar Anyone can give a value for this bill? I know that values tend to fall sharply for circulated vs uncirculated grades, but I can't check prices.

We need a smilie of someone's jaw falling and hitting the floor... I've never had something with so much numismatic value! I'll go look for a rigid banknote holder so it can't get accidentally bent or folded.

Nice 'Devil's Face' find.. I was going to say, EF on some of the photos but, the stain on the last pic would probably bring it down to VF IMO
