Does anyone know why there are not too many counterfeits of this denomination. Considering in Europe, Japan etc higher denominations are counterfeit to a higher degree that are easily too. Like the U.K 1 pound, 50 eurocent and even the old Malaysian 1 ringgit etc.

There are 2 dollar counterfeits that circulate. Pulled one a few years ago. Cost wise to counterfeit a 2 collar coin is actually really cheap compared to other currencies. It's only a matter of time when they explode in numbers.

Most of those that have been found are dated 2003. There were so many, I heard, that one particular security company was throwing some of them back into circulation because it was too much money for the company to be losing. They'd paid for these dud's coming in and they were worthless.
