I would like to say hi to everyone in this forum and here is a piece of the United kingdom 1998 Queen elizabeth II 2 pounds coin with extra dot variety on obverse side there. The coin is with extra dot variety on obverse side which is rectangular dot raised up on the forehead on obverse side there and the piece is in brilliant uncirculated condition to be honest with you.I would think it must be a new discovery on the piece for sure which has no toning,no black spots and no scatches on the surface with natural original shade. The opinion require. Please check it out on the scans below and let me know what you think there.Thank you

I can't see any difference between the two obverses - perhaps a closeup would help ?

Even if there is a dot, it's more likely a die flaw or a bit of grease.

I need to let you know for the top and center scans came from the similar coin and the difference is the top scan is without the obvious red arrow while the center scans is along with the obvious red arrow pointing for the extra dot which is raised up on the statue on obverse side position on the scan clearly for you to check for the extra dot there.

Sadly the quality control on our modern coins is poor.

Hence you quite often get extra bits of metal appearing on the design. These don't really count as varieties as they are just random errors, rather than differences in the dies used at the mint.

Some people may collect them, but I doubt that most UK based collectors will get very excited about such a thing I'm afraid.

I would think for the stitches were caused from a big fighted with other people, watch too much of those annoying movies otherwise for she was borned to have the dot until now.The extra dot which is attractive to look at it because it appears on the most famous queen statue and I believe the extra dot is appears on other similar pieces as the constant variety for sure there.

in Australia, we call this a " Cud" -
it's a chip on the die, which creates a "lump" on the coins produced.
At the Mint, many dies are in use simultaneously, so there are, potentially, many different Cuds out there.
Some designs seem to have many of them - for example - the Australian 2005 50-cent reverse.
Some people collect them, and get very excited about "varieties".
