I recently got the 1884-S dime on the link below for about $30 dollars (or 18 pounds), I only really want the dime in the middle. Although I don't have it in hand yet it looks to be in at leased VF, what do you guys think, good deal? or have I jumped the gun a little? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251545359....m1439.l2649Sorry for not having better pics. Many thanks, Matt :)

I think this coin looks VF/XF without looking to closely. Numismedia lists it from $48-$100 in that range. Worth taking a good look to determine if it was XF since there is a $50 jump.

I'd be more worried about having just bought someone's first ebay sale than the price paid.

The seller was not selling anything else suspicious, so I thought it would be worth the risk buying from a first time seller. We all have to start somewhere right?
Also, would anyone like to offer their opinion as to whether or not I should send it to get graded?

Good on you for that. If your Dime makes XF45, I'd call it "marginally worthy of slabbing." This depends on the originality of the surfaces, which you won't be able to determine until you receive it. Unsure what extra costs may be involved for you, on the other side of the pond, which may affect the coin's worthiness.

Seated dime looks like it might be 'details.' Will be interesting to see what it looks like in hand. I think you took a good risk. Free shipping in UK, not bad.

The Seated dime appears to have rim damage about 11:00 on reverse. I hope it's just a smudge in the image.

Looks like tarnish to me on the reverse but have to look at it in hand. Looks XF but need a closer look at the staff to make sure it is distinct but the hair details match the PCGS photo-grade for XF. People tend to like these coins in higher grade here in the US, or the cheap low-ball coins.

Coin might get a "details" grade. Still, for $30 you did well.

If only it was an 1885-S! Looks like a good deal to me, I'd likely pay $30 for a F-VF example.

looks like compromised surfaces but if you're pleased with the purchase that is really all that matters.

Just got the coins in the post, after a quick soak in water and then acetone it has taken on a more silver appearance. It seemed as though there was a lot of 'gunk' on the coin before. I will post pics soon, when I can find my camera haha!
