I have both the CherryPickers Guide,(5th addition), and the Red Book open, (2015 addition), and they are showing differences of what the Proof 'S' type I & II MM are supposed to look like. (specifically the quarter)

Is it just a typo in the CherryPickers Guide? Page 227 as well as page 459.

Or is it that the Red Book is wrong? (page 235)

Thanks !

Which year, 1979 or 1981? The 1979 mintmark is quite easy to determine while the 1981 differences are more subtle. It is also worth noting that the 1979-S Type 2 mintmark is the same mintmark as the 1981-S Type 1.

The 1979 S Proof set

If you look at the books I'm sure you'll understand my Question.

Thanks

For that coin/yr. you have either the clear S or the filled S
The clear is worth about twice as much as the filled.
Compare with both books and you will find out if one or the other
is mistaken. Or not :)

Here are images of the Type 1 & 2 for that year. I don't have that year of " Red Book".

They probably do know it now. They evidently missed this before it went to the presses.
