So here is the backstory on this nickel. I have had it sitting in my junk coin box for as long as I can remember. I have absolutely no memory of when, where, or how I got it. It just something that made it into my box somehow. I guess I thought it looked cool because of how damaged it was, like it was in a fire or something.

Well today, for whatever reason, I decided to take a closer look at it. And much to my surprise, I found out it was a War Nickel! Every single bit of lettering and numbering is burned off except the faint P above the Monticello. So as cool as I thought this coin was before, it just increased tenfold.

Amazing! That nickel looks like it's been through a war, survived, told you what it actually is, but keeping its story a secret from all of us

That coin was certainly in a fire. And a rather hot one at that. Almost as good as that partially melted Morgan that was posted a while ago.

Nice coin!

I have a confession to make... it was me...

Those Whitman's are just so hard to get the coins into... I tried a hammer then a shop press... then I tried fire but that just set the book on fire then I spent the nickel on icecrem.

That's a cool story! Even though it doesn't have much value, the story behind it makes it priceless! I think it was probably in a fire at some point.
