And found this! Certainly glad I made the decision to try nickels instead of pennies like I normally do. 1928-S! For you nickel searchers out there, approximately how often do you find buffaloes? Didn't find any War Nickels unfortunately :(

Nice. When I was doing nickels I would find a buffalo and or a Silver Nickel in each box. In a good box I would find 2 of each.

David (nickelsearcher) posted stats on this: 1 in almost 7000 coins (I'm pretty sure approx. 6700), so a Buffalo every 3rd or 4th box. Looks like a good start for you!!

David's stats hold true for me. Last summer I had a box w/9, all
pretty crummy, though.

That's a great find, especially since it's your first box! A buffalo is always a great thing to come across, but an S mint is a definite plus.

I average about 1 buff per box. However, that's the average; sometimes I will find none in one box, and then two in the next. It all depends, but they are out there to be found.

I've only ever found one War Nickel (a '42-S), and I've been searching for over a year!

Nice find ... congratulations indeed.

To put this in perspective with my roll searching finds ... I'm at one Buffalo every 5480 coins (on average).

You can find much more nickel roll searching data on this site ... suggest you visit my latest 300,000 coin update.

Great fun searching nickels .. pleased to have you reporting in with us.
