Recently, on ebay, I found some older Whitman Canadian type set albums. They were more than I really wanted to pay, but I have thinking of putting together a set like this for a long time.

I am not a big fan of Whitman albums, but I really wanted to do this type set.

These albums are from the 1960's. The last dated holes are for 1967.

My first pass though my boxes of coins I did fill quite a few of the holes, but some I hope to upgrade to better coins.
Also I did use some Newfoundland coins as hole fillers.

I had a lot of problem trying to get good pictures. Here is what I have so far.

Part two will be coming soon.
About a week after I bought the Whitman albums, a auction for a set of Dansco albums came up. I really paid more than I thought I would for them, but after seeing them I am glad I did. The two Dansco albums came today. They were still in the shink wrap and in great shape for older out of print albums.

The Dansco's have more holes, I think 120. It will take me a couple days to switch the coins from the Whitman's and add any other coins I can find. Once I get the coins in, I will try to get some pictures.

Very good start, there are Canadians that don't have that good of a start.

I use Gardmaster albums. I can custom change the info on the sheets behind with a Word Document table.

Nice! I too purchased the two albums, new unwrapped, about 10 years ago. They sat empty on my bookshelf until about a year ago when I decided to complete the set. Just about there, about the same progress as you. It was not my main interest but the coins I still need for the series collections I favour are getting a bit pricey. This seemed as nice sideline as I am not too critical on condition. Most are falling in the EF to UNC range and reasonably affordable. I admit, though, I am getting hooked on the type set and may just see if I can get the Dansco albums. How much did the Danscos set you back?

I would be very happy if I could get them all in XF to AU condition.

Most all the coins I have so far have been for the silver junk buckets. Most times I am just trying to fill holes.
For this set, I hope I can try to find better examples.

That's the way to do it. Fill the holes with whatever you have or can afford so you can enjoy it. Then up-grade as good deals and $$$ come along. I just have some higher value Victorian and Edwardian to complete the type set and I am going to have to accept VF or so.

The small coin type set album has from one cent to twenty-five cent coins.

The large coin set album has fifty cent and dollar coins.

Both have coins from Queen Victoria (starting 1858) to Queen Elizabeth II (ending 1967)

Both the Whitman and the Dansco albums have been out of stock for many years.

I got mine on ebay. I bid on a lot of them before I won a auction.

Get more post ... so you can buy. In the future I may try and sell
these Whitman albums to recover some of the money I spent on the Dansco's.
