Here are a few that some have seen here before.. I'm a sucker for great original toning..ICCS graded ..in the 90's..

Besides the natural attraction...please have a look at all of the rims..

Personally I think for the most part , he has a great eye for pretty coins. Some of his stuff is to drool over. I have seen some of the coins he has sold fellow collectors and dealers and as East Van Rob said they are superior and have great eye appeal. I would not worry about this seller at all!!

Neither PCGS or NGC will numerically grade an AT coin.

I collect by strike first, but appreciate toning in every which shape
from dark chocolate to steel to bright white with dashes of color.
Eye appeal is something that non-collectors pick up on, and these Canadian coins
have LOTS of eye appeal.

Not sure if I can post a picture to this thread. I am just following suit to another poster just ahead of me.

Mods, please pull down my post if I am in violation of CCF rules.

My picture shows a bag of Ikes with many toned coins on the surface.

I do not think this is one of my bags. BUT I did get one (1) bag with (about) 263 slightly toned to very toned Ike dollars.

In my bag ==== why would anyone AT (about) 263 coins === then just "DUMP" 'em?

I would say this about the whole situation however. His ebay ID is a little weird. Does anyone know if he sells coins NOT toned?

I think if a bunch of coins are stored together in the same environment for a long period of time, they can tone the same. Couple of years back I purchased 30 1967 open sets that all toned identical.

I had similar feels, as I would pull coin after coin out of the bag.

All my bags have a different "theme" with them.

One was a complete skunk. Yuck

One was lousy with AG. Five (5?-6?)

One was all about TONING Some AG

One was full of weird PMD?-ERROR? damages and grease strikes. One Peace

One bag had (about) 100+ 1972 (P) type one and type 3. Some .4 stuff.

One had 1973 (S), 1973(P) 1973(D) one ASE.

Well --- you get the idea. Enough.

PS === Wish I would have kept better records of all my bags. Shame on me

I have heard of guys putting a silver coin into a bag with a crushed up hard boiled egg, the sulfer that off gases reacts with the silver or copper. I have no idea ir this is one of the causes of toning but I know jewerly makers use it to give an antique finish to silver jewelry.

I wonder if toning is caused by something like a torch?

ICCS will still grade AT coins.

I too have thought many of this seller's coins have sinilar toning colours.

Especially the dull bluish-green toned coins which look good, but I have to admit, I have my very strong suspicions somethings a 'cookin'.

In my opinion, PCGS (which is very strict against grading AT coins) would reject quite a few of these.

On the topic of toning. I guess these would fall into neither a AT or NT. Maybe "an act of god" toned. Here are some samples of interestingly toned 73 quarters. These were saved from a house fire some years back. Every one is unique.

@TheCoinHunter: Those do look nice but they were toned using fire and a TPG would denote these at Artificial Toning. Here's my best toned coin. I have only seen ~5-10 Coins total that I would consider to have superior toning and most of them were proofs. I take every chance I get to show it off:

The image is absolutely huge so it will be down-sized by the website so click on it for a zoom-in. (Original Image was 3MB so I had to downsize to 1.35MB because Imgur failed to upload it).

Very nice coin. Agreed as far as TPGs grading requirements. Point being was that this wasn't a torch job.
