nice bill.

You could probably use the image optimizer to help trim away the blank space at the top of your image.

That is very cool. Those were mainly intended for money transfers between banks, correct?

It would be fun (and somewhat terrifying) to go to a mortgage closing with a few of those.

Amazing note and mind-boggling high denomination!
I believe these are not legal tender now, right?

They are not legal tender. All surviving notes were thrown out the window of the treasury department during a fire in 1933 or 1934. The people on the street scooped them up, thinking that they hit the jackpot during the great depression. Many survivors have water and/or burn marks due to the fire. The number estimated to have survived varies, but is under 100 examples. Most have pin-hole cancels, this one does not and is rare in that regards. Quite a remarkable history.

Jim, I know most of these were canceled. Just asking, I know some notes were repaired to cover the holes. But PMG did not mention this; so it's one of the rarer ones.

From my research, the ones without pinhole cancels, such as this one -- but it does have a red cancel mark on the obverse -- were from receiving banks in Canada. This particular one was back cancelled from the Bank of Montreal. Interesting.
