I have a friend collecting the recent State Quarter proofs in 69DCAM condition as graded by PCGS. The question is how do you tell from a coin description on a PCGS coin enclosure if it is a 90% silver quarter or a clad quarter proof?

From the picture you posted, it appears to have Silver below the state name.

Fuzzy is correct. A clad coin will have "Silver" omitted from the label.

Thanks. Looking just at a clad proof there is nothing to say it is clad just the absence of the word "silver". Hmmm.... Easy to confuse buyers I would think. Appreciate the help.

Only buyers who don't know. It sometimes mystifies me how people can jump into a highly specialized field of collecting/investment thinking that specialized knowledge is unnecessary. It's bothersome, because we then regularly have to tell these people they just threw away a bunch of money simply because they didn't even wave at "due diligence."

Life often comes without instructions.

Caveat emptor couldn't ring more true.
