Joel Iskowitz wanted me to drop in here to thank everyone for their wonderful questions, which he has already answered (to me via email.) We decided to hold off on publishing this article until his next Presidential dollar comes out next month, as it will be part of a multi-pronged media effort on Joel's behalf. Did you know that Joel is the only artist outside the Mint to design any of the first four Presidential dollars? He designed two of them, the Adams and the Madison. Joel has also done a husband-and-wife pair: he designed the James Madison Presidential dollar obverse and the Dolley Madison First Spouse gold coin reverse! Anyway, I told Joel I'd stop by just to give everyone who contributed an update on things. I'll post here again when we publish the article with your questions. Susan Headley

Susan, thank you for stop by and informing about the article. I can't wait to read. Once again, thank you for taking the time and effort of collecting our questions and asking Mr. Iskowitz.

Not sure if to late but I sure would like to know if any sort of popular opinion is ever involved in coin design? Or do coin designers ever ask anyone what they like?

I would ask, "Which angle on me do you want to capture? This is my good side."

Was there ever a follow-up posted on the answers to these questions? I'm interested in reading the responses to those questions. Thanks

Thank you for asking about this! You might laugh at this, but the truth is that Joel turned out to be such a fascinating individual that every time we talk, we end up spending hours and not getting the job done, hehehe. But really, he has been urging me to get the interview written up and published for the primary reason that he wants to make sure his obligation to the members of CC are honored (and so do I!) Now that the time-consuming (and routine-crashing) holidays are nearly out of the way, expect to see an extensive interview with Joel by mid-January. =) I'll be sure to post here when it's done. I hope everyone in the CC family is having a lovely and blessed holiday season! Susan Headley P.S. Did you guys know you all made number one on the list? =) http://coins.about.com/od/uscoins/t...s_top_10.htm

Why not go ahead and post it yourself as a new thread? =) I would do it myself, but that might be a little unseemly, hehehe. =) I put a LOT of thought and care into that Top 10 list just to narrow it down to 10, but once I had the 10, putting them into numerical ranking was easier than I thought! <G>
