DARN!
I put some more stuff in the vault today, including a new, larger dessicant (rechargeable) package I just got. I basically have no room left and I'm not going to upgrade the size of the box as it's already large enough. I'm faced with the possibility that I might have to pare down. ACK! How the heck do I do this? I love all my children! Can you tell that there's an emotional attachment?
Have you ever been faced with this decision for non-monetary reasons? It's not like I have junk that I have to unload or anything. I think I might see some prized Early Proofs have to leave the flock. Edited by Prethen

That's not a bad position to be in.  The only time I say goodbye to my "children" is when I upgrade to the new improved models or give them away to deserving forum members. |

Well first and foremost....I'm a deserving forum member  I think it might be impossible for you to upgrade your collection by what I have seen from your pictures. I'd just get a bigger safe  |

Time to add that new and improved storage option that is lurking in the back of your mind . I have a stack of coins sitting here that have been labeled for ebay back in june ,,I just can't seem to get motivated to actually get them listed . Metalman |

I am right there with you, I had to make decisions on who was more important to go into the vault and who wasn't. I have thought about parting with some of them but I keep putting it off. How can you choose? They look at me with those sad eyes and I just find room for more. I sad part is I keep buying more, my wife always gives me that look when the USPS lady comes to the door for a signature, I tell her the lady is just so used coming by, I have to keep her employed!

I keep re-arranging mine in my box to get that much needed half inch of space so that I can just get the lid to latch after I introduce the family to each new member. You would be surprised how much space you can make once you have all your babies laid out on the table and tell yourself you are just going to put back in the box what means the most to you, you start with the coins you know without a doubt you couldn't replace if you got rid of then work your way down and by the time you think about it and the box is about to explode you realize there is just enough space in there for the newest member and you don't have to worry about it until next time when you go through the same thing again

Hmmm ... a coin surplus ... noticed in the season of GIVING ... and a forum full of good boys and girls ... there must be some logical solution to such a serious dilemma ... give me a minute ... I'll think of something ... I'm good at problem-solving!

when you say "vault" what exactly is the mental picture? How many "children" do you all have? My kids are a very tight knit little clan... I know they are yearning for other siblings to play with... if the vault is too tight... I'd be happy to adopt!  |
