I was curious if any others have seen a vast amount of new 2014-P dimes? I'm East coast, so typically I'm seeing P-mint. Basically every time I go into our coffee fund at work I pull out a couple nearly BU 2014 Dimes. There's a good amount of 2014 cents too. I'm most likely going to collect a roll of each without having to do much work.
I look a look at the mint stats and so far for the year they are reporting slightly over 1 Billion circulating dimes minted. 2013 has 2.1B minted ,1.7B in 2012, 1.5B in 2011, and 1.1B in 2010. So what they're doing in 2014 doesn't seem to be that far off pace from normal, but what I see circulating seems to be a lot more than normal.
Now most 2014's are out in circulation, are any others seeing A LOT of them now too?

We are seeing the usual number of new 2014-P dimes here in the Florida panhandle. My usual banks will have rolls of them occasionally but there does not seem to be an over abundance of them yet. We sometimes get Denver dimes, but, so far no 2014-D dimes here.

I'm not really seeing 2014's here yet. The northwest Indiana economy is into a recovery but much of the surrounding area is not so I'm guessing a lot of our coins are just getting shipped in from Chicago and they are older. Even 2013's are way underrepresented.
It's interesting that we're making 2 billion new dimes each year now so every year there you have to look at another 25 dimes to find a 1969-P. Every year that '69 will be a little lower grade when you finally find it.
Thanks for the numbers.

My father-in-law got a 2014-P dime in change two weeks ago in Panama City Beach, Florida. I "convinced" my six year old coin collecting daughter to ask him for it :-)
That's the only 2014 dime I've seen so far. I got 8 rolls of dimes from the bank at lunch today, and I hope there will be a couple in there....

I just went through 8 rolls of dimes. Not a single 2014 in there.

Interesting. Thanks for the comments. But I guess overall not surprising. It takes awhile for things to spread across the country and depends on how the banks operate. Perhaps the office coffee fund pot has 2014's in it due to the variety of banks my co workers frequent. If I just took rolls from my own credit union, I doubt I'd come across any myself.
I have not seen any quarters or nickels yet in the NE US. Just cents and now recently dimes.

Just got 2 more rolls of 2014-P dimes from local bank. Seem to be plentiful here in Florida panhandle right now.

I just went through 200 dimes and they were the most boring bunch I ever got. It was remarkably light on the older pre-'82 coins and it appears attrition might be increasing and this might account for higher mintages. A dime doesn't have much value any longer so an aging population might not be picking them up when they drop them. They get run over by the vacuum and left in the streets. The few older coins that were in the sample were lower grade and/ or culls (road kill). There were only two 2014 coins both P mint though numerous 2013's were there (mostly P mint). One of the 2014's is a solid Gem so will go in my collection. There is also a 2006-D that was solid Gem very recently but has a slight rub. What a shame. The only other coin of any note is a 90% US silver dime. It will make up for the three coins short my quarter rolls were.
Some of these dimes in the rolls were recently in storage; about 40% of them. You can tell because the dates are skewed a little to what was in circulation about three years ago and because for some reason clad that has been in storage makes your hands dirty when you check them. A lot of silver went into circulation while foreclosures were at their height and this one was probably among them.
Oh, there was also a 2009-D in the dimes though it is only high end XF.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Where I am, I find that there is lot of 2000+ dimes. Sometimes I can find the "P" mints with no problem. Denver is another story. But when I find roll of Philadelphia 2014 or 2013 I do put them aside (maybe 5). If I keep them all my collection will be full recent coinage.
The older dates (in any condition) are getting scarce, but I am still trying to put together a roll of these dates in the best condition I see.
2009's are in good shape with a noticeable shortage of those from the Denver mint. Perhaps when I get up to Illinois this summer my fortunes might change.

Quote: A dime doesn't have much value any longer so an aging population might not be picking them up when they drop them. I find tons (about 15 an hour) of dimes at schools and parks while metal detecting and on roads while riding my bike. From what I see, they are rarely being picked up. By the time I find them the environment has taken its toll on them.

Very few coins older than 1980, I had about 10 65, 66, and 67 coins, two 68-Ps and a couple of 76-P and 76-Ds. I haven't gone through enough dimes to draw a conclusion, but like the clad quarters I've gone through, I suspect that the lower mintage dimes are getting more scarce than we realize.
