Silver 2012 proof sets are breaking through the $200 barrier on ebay and Amazon.

What do you think these will bring in 2015?

Personally I feel it is a spike and like the 1999 set will reduce to a manageable level in the future.

It might come down a little bit down the road, but don't hold your breath. If you are dire to have one, you will pay a hefty premium. The mintage for the 2013 SPS is only about 20K greater than 2012 and these sets have been steadily rising too.

I was fortunate to buy my 2012 SPS when they were peaking at $150. With the sudden sell out of the 2012 SPS, I enrolled in the item's subscription to ensure I get a set every year.

I think the price is being driven more by flippers and speculators, than by collectors. Serious proof set collectors (the few that remain going by the steady decline in proof sales)already have their sets. The only draw for the true collector is the silver Kennedy half, even with the additional mintage of 50,000 from the Limited Edition sets, the 2012 still becomes the key to the Kennedy Series (excluding the 1998 Matte).

Look for the speculators to tire of holding on and the price to steadily return to normal for a low mintage set.

Don't forget the Roosevelt dime, it too stands out as a key with the low mintage.

It will come down like the 1999 silver set did.

I agree. If you want to profit, this is not a long term keeper. If you need one and do not have one, it is worth waiting out the high tide.
