Hi all,
Was in local pawn shop and saw a 1921 Peace for $32.. Problem is that it is badly beaten up and quite ugly. Its not a nicely used lowball, but just more scratcehd and worjn away in the middle of the coin and, I think, little aesthetic value..
All the others Peace and Morgans in the store are $35, so I think they just cut this down to $32 because of its wear.. I suspect I could get it for $30.... But unsure if I want to...
Sorry - photos weren't allowed
Thoughts?

I would pick it up if it was me. Semi key coin could get you some extra cash down the line. If the date is clear someone will want it. Not everyone can afford top notch coins for their sets so these coins are important to some.

Pretty good deal one of my favorite dates is the 1921. Thanks, Pete Whitt *** Edited by Staff - Please Review the rules that you agreed to when you registered. ***

It's a good deal IMO for a key-date coin. It'll get you more if you resell it on ebay unless the coin is just downright ugly.

A coin with a problem will ALWAYS be a problem coin.

What happened to that Peace dollar? Dang. I wish we could see the coin you're talking about, silver exile. Is it worse than the one in the ebay link?

That coin was in a fire. It started to melt there and you can see how it was starting to buckle a bit as well. Actually a pretty cool coin. I have bought from that seller before and will again. That really is tempting.

shootnstarz, you are going to get some hate mail (well, maybe comments with a differing point of view, to put it nicely) for that, but not from me.

I thought it looked interesting, but it was still ugly. I kind of looks like one of the Zombucks silver rounds.

Wouldn't be the first time, and I stand by my opinion of the "Medusa Dollar"

I'm the same way with the Morgan. Couldn't they have made Lady Liberty look like a woman ?

The one I was is, luckily, better than the ebay one.. it is heavily worn, and scratched but mainly in the middle.. Wish I could have taken a photo. I could go back Monday.. for only $30, its got to be worth a gamble...

You can find 1921 NCG/PCGS Peace dollars for around 40-80 bucks for a MS 63-65 depending on what you want.
