Here are some foreign (to me in the USA anyway) coin finds from the cash drawer this last week. There are several older Canadians cents (I especially like the 1931 and the 1940 has a really strong strike), China (?), Guatemala and several English coins.

South Korea, not China. Korean script has lots of circles and ovals in it - Chinese and Japanese is all lines and angles. Now you know!

Nice finds. Those Canadian pennies are better than any I've ever found in circulation.

Good info on the lettering. I think I may have found some others with similar characters.

I recognize that "Chinese" coin right off the bat! (Look at my location.)

It's a South Korean 100 won coin.
Probably used/ taken for a quarter, since the 100 won is the same size as the quarter. But, less than half of monetary value.

Yes, the oval characters are a good sign that it is South Korean, but there are easier signs.

Japanese coins do not bear a date in numbers, because the date is written in Chinese characters saying the year of the emperor's reign.
Chinese modern coins will say "Zhonghua renmin gongheguo," or the People's Republic of China somewhere on the coin.
Korea's coins tend to have the distinct "egg-shaped" numerals.
