As many might not know, I currently work at a bank. Recently I scored on some Rolls of Silver Franklins and Walking Liberty. Perhaps 200 face value worth as well as silver quarters. I was wondering would I be able to get anything out of these? I'm not much of a coin collector, but I would be interested if they even worth anything. Also whats the best way in selling theses out? I went to a local coin collector and they told me they dont worth nothing and ask me if I would like cash for them? so I find it odd so I took them home with me.

Cash for them?! Geez. I'll pay triple cash value! You can sell them quite quickly on ebay. Just take some good pictures and let the bidders price them for you.

LIES!! that dealer was a liar! those things are worth ATLEAST the price of silver as silver coins, but maybe more as collectibles, depending on dates and grades.

Even bad quality franklins will go for $5 a piece.

Right now, the going rate for "junk silver" is around 9-10 times face. Walking Liberty halves may carry a small premium. See if there are any coin shows in your area. There, you can shop them around for the best price.

If they're not worth anything...then why would he want to buy them?

Congatulations on your finds. My advice is to hang on to them for a while. I would also buy the most current Red Book to see how much your coins are worth. Do some more research before you decide to sell them. Knowledge is the best way to avoid being ripped off. I would also post some pictures in the Grading section, we can help you grade some of your coins.

Yeah, I've had that happen a few times through the years. The line goes something like this: "Well, it's not really worth anything, but I'll give you X dollars for it just to do you a favor and take it off your hands." Yeah, right. Some of these dealers think that we only have three brain cells that work together. Steve P.S. Arthrene...I like your motto!

Hey lude, I always wondered how that works. They let you go through the rolls on your lunch hour or something, then you buy what you want our of the drawer? Sounds like a sweet deal. 10 rolls of old silver half dollars bought for face value. That would sure keep a smile on my face for a long time!

hahah yeah if we have old coins or notes coming in, we get a chance to buy it off. All we do is swap the money (face value) =)
