New to coins here got a bunch from dad when he was president of bank and started going through them. I posted the 1908 full mirror brockage coin and got tons of help. Its off to be graded at PCGS So here is another I am interested in hearing about. Thanks for all your help. Should this be graded or just sold as is? What is estimated value?

One of the better date/mintmark combinations in the series. Higher grade too! I'd say around EF45/AU53 could be around $400.00 or more.

Should I send in to grade or just sell on ebay as is? Also what auction length is best for coins? I deal with computer parts and always just do buy it now or best offers.

My first thought was EF-45 but it could go to AU-50 easy depending on how the obverse looks in hand.

ebay's a chancy proposition for a coin like this, especially raw. As long as it doesn't kill your profit margin, it's definitely a piece better seen in a reputable slab. You're going to run the risk of a Details grade - that's one potential interpretation of the surfaces I'm seeing in your pics - but either way far better to attract a serious collector than a raw coin.

I'm on board with westcoin's opinion of potential grade and value.

Some of those carbon spots could be an indicator of a past cleaning. You're going to have to play the old "scratch-off ticket" on this one as its a gamble. All IMHO:

If you wind up in a details graded PCGS than no matter the avenue you travel, you'll get approx 1/3rd of the FMV.

If you took a shot at a raw auction on ebay, you'd likely wind up w/ approx. 1/3rd to 2/3rds of its FMV.

If you post it raw on ebay as a BIN for anything near its FMV, it will most likely sit.

I'd say try a 30-day BIN at $350 OBO and it see what kind of action, if any, you generate prior to rolling the details dice with PCGS and spending money and time.

I agree with EF-45 too. When I looked at it without comparing. I thought it was at least an EF coin. It will sell for more in a slab. On ebay you are sometimes lucky to get half the $360-$450 value for it.

I would say EF-45, also. I would get it slabbed if I were going to sell it. It will sell for more and more easily.
