I have had this one for a while in my collection of half eagles. It has lots of device luster.

Edit- not sure anymore how I'd grade it. It looks different every time I look!

Too many scratches for an unc grade. Low end AU 50-53 in my book.

By the way, I think it's a 10-D and not a 10-S.

, it's no doubt a D from these pictures. I think NGC may have made another one of their label mistakes that I've been seeing more of lately.

The more I look at it, the more I'm convinced it's a "D".

NGC made a labeling typo. It happens.

If it's still in the holder send it back to them and have them correct it. If it's no longer in the holder then ***oops!***.

Did you pay for an 'S' or 'D'? I'm afraid to look and see what the pricing differences are between the two.

A 1910-S is TRIPLE the price in MS-60+ than the 1910-D.

Edit: not good, not good, NOT good!

I agree with low AU. The chopped up cheek is pretty bad. Plus the little cotton ball thingies on his headress are pretty worn. Upper wing feathers worn. I love those coins, and I have a batch of them NGC graded. Somehow I bought them all raw, and none of them were fake. That was my proudest numismatic moment, considering how many fakes there are. COULD BE AN S.

I will try to take some pictures....but I have been collecting these a long time. sigh....this is DEFINITELY an S. I have an AU 1910-D right next to it in my album, very different construct in the shape of the mintmark. The S is smooshed for sure on this coin, but there is no doubt in my mind that it is an S....I can make out the upper and lower serifs in hand. NGC did not make a mistake or typo.

First is an up close picture of the mintmark on the 1910-s coin discussed on this thread. It is smooshed for sure, but you can make out the serifs.

Second is a closeup of my 1910-D mint mark. Notice the half moon shape. Its a completely different shape, even if the serifs were so smooshed that you could not make out the dividing lines, you could still distinguish between the two.

I apologize my top pics weren't the greatest. My wife had the camera for the evening, so I gave things a whirl with my iphone....which doesn't do too bad, but not up to snuff with our real camera.

Anyways, I will leave the floor open for more grading guesses, but hopefully this settles the D vs. S dispute.

ok..... the 2nd pic looks like an "S".

I'll still stick with low end AU on the grade ---- AU50/53.
