It looks cool but I'm suspicious. Could be artificial.

That's Randall Holder. He asks premium prices for his coins, but I don't think there's a better judge of high-end eye appeal selling on ebay. I'm inclined to trust his opinion of surface authenticity, and that is one seriously nice Ike. I think that's the first time I've ever called an Ike "seriously nice."

Just went back to the coin on ebay. Wonderful coin. === Pricey. === And that is good for business. What is the "issue" just under the "A" in America on Reverse? I love toning in general === but prefer the even type of toning. Is beauty still in the eye of the beholder?

Quote: What is the "issue" just under the "A" in America on Reverse? That is a hit from the rim of another Ike. I don't for a minute think that is purposeful toning. Looks like honest and awesome accidental toning to me. But 159.00? NO WAY. Half that, yes.

I've read that the AT hacks have given up on the old school method of heat and oils tricks and switched to airbrushing for a more consistent butchering.

Doesn't matter about what may be attractive toning, albeit artificial or not. The numerous dings have cruelled this coin.
Even the crack in the bell has to fight for attention.

Even the crack in the bell has to fight for attention. Yes === the condition on this Ike is rather poor. Still I like to see a trusted dealer offering an Ike for a good amount of "coin." Good for business. Long live the MIGHTY IKEs.

Might be mis-understanding you, but if you're stating you trust his opinions of coins, let me ask you all this: does this Lincoln look uncirculated to anyone? He's got it as "BU MS++RB Nice and Original with slight Woodgrain Toning", and honestly, I don't think it's Unc, maybe AU (but even that may be too high), but not Unc.

In my opinion (and I'm no expert) it doesn't look Unc, but the pictures could be a little better.

But that's a 1925-D Wheatie. The 20s Lincolns are notorious for their weak strikes. I am seeing a weakly struck MS coin.

I had-have no opinion on the condition of the coin. None. I was direction my thoughts to the srong dollar asking price for a Toned Ike Dollar. I collect Ikes, and it pleases me when I see activity on an individual coin priced at way more than FACE. I get my Ikes at face 1,000 at a time. That is when I am lucky enough to get one. This guy's price will give me a guide to set my prices === when I sell on ebay. I checked this mans site on ebay, and he offers very high dollar TONED coins. Very glad he is getting down into the relatively CHEAP Ike dollars

MY opinion ONLY on the '25 wheatie: Although the pictures are reasonably good, they MAY be somewhat deceiving anyway.
The only way to really sus this coin out is to look at it in hand with a loupe of at least 10x power, examining it specifically for wear. It may be a weak strike, but from these pictures, the toning makes it hard to determine if it is a weak strike or wear.
