Is it is a coaster? People do that though, say that a nickel is silver. They don't know that nickels were never made of silver. Why do you think they call them nickels? Because they are made of nickel? Of course the exception is the 35% silver in the War Nickels during WWII

Plenty of problems with that listing:
-- How do we know it's a Type 1; no reverse image?
-- How do we know it's an "S"; no reverse image?
-- Well circulated; can't prove it's proof by the fields (were there even proofs in 1913?)
-- Seller doesn't believe it either based on the starting price.

Sure, there were 1913 Matte proof nickels. But no, I am not aware of any branch mint Matte proof buffaloes minted in 1913.

Interesting for sure. Can't find a reference to any Silver Buffalo nickels. Also, mat proofs were not from the Sanfranciso Mint in 1913. Sort of think the seller is all confused or looking for unknowing people.
But then again, he may have found a coin that is the only one ever made.
