Here's a 1941-D Walking Half I recently picked up for less than silver value. It almost looks like it was dropped in a firepit or something. How do you think it rates as is? It's got some abrasion on the front, some burn spots and some ash or something black in the rim.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's a bit ugly from the somewhat incomplete cleaning but it's got a ton of detail. I'm a still a novice and it's suprising how obvious the cleaning is with good magnified pictures, but very hard to see in hand.

Like I said, it was cheaper than bouillon value, so I still feel like it was a score.

Those are carbon spots I believe.
