I would like to say hi to everyone in this forum and I have just brought a piece of the United states 1967 John F Kennedy half dollar silver coin.It comes with the beautiful golden toning surface with shining luster on both sides.

However, the coin is in brilliant uncirculated condition which was brought by me at those eldely dealers within the territory of my place in my country and I can search for so many difference coins with beautiful toning surface to be honest with you.

The dealer shops are small as the storeroom in my house and their pieces are special and unusual to put up for sale right now.I would apprieiciate for you as usual. Please check the scans below and let me know what you think there.Thank you

to CCF. It is a 40% silver half dollar. I am not good at grading so I won't. The golden tone looks natural to me.

I would think for the half dollar silver coin with beautiful golden toning on the surface is so special and uncommon to be seen exactly same like mine on other similar pieces available in the market which are normal pieces without toning surface and it is not so much about the silver material contains in the piece but for the fun of it to be honest with you.I would think for the piece to be considered in high grade as brilliant uncirculated condition due to the toning surface but not lower for the condition and it is nice to hear from you there.Thank you

I think the coin was toned by where it was kept, maybe in a paper envelope. The fumes from the paper or fumes getting through the paper caused it. Some may like that, some may not. I don't like it.

It is nice to hear the comment from you and it makes sense to me for the toning piece because there are people like you do not prefer toning coins except for the silvery white shining luster shade right on the surface the reason is some people may think for those toning piece is just the form of dirty but not natural original shade on the surface but I would prefer those beautiful toning on the surface piece because I would think the toning shade looks so beautiful to look at it and the shade must be complete right on the surface there.Thank you

Toning is all a matter of personal choice. There are a lot of people who like basic toning like this and many who do not. Rainbow toning seems to be more popular, especially if it is perceived as naturally occurring.

This toning appears to me as akin to normal silver tarnishing. While annoying on silverware it is appreciated on coinage!

I hope you enjoy your treasure!

Many collectors are a fan of toned, original coins. However, most collectors don't just like all types of toning, but they all a different taste when it comes to the type of toning.

Rainbow toning, which is formed of many different vibrant shades of colors is often very attractive and people will pay a premium for the toning, but some collectors won't.
Some people find the light golden toning on CuNi coins attractive, some do not.
Some people find dark, steel-gray toning on BN matte proof lincoln cents attractive, but some collectors will prefer full Red.

So most times it's really about the certain types of toning that some people find attractive and some do not. The yellow, golden toning on the half may seem attractive to some collectors, but it could be found unattractive by other collectors. I personally find it a bit on the unattractive side--black micro spots all over the surface.

It's all about the preferences and tastes of a collector.
