Just got another lens I don't really need but it was a bargain I think..its a Canon Macro FD 100mm 1:4 lens..
for around $70 bucks with the FD 50 1:1 adapter some dust but I think it will be ok...now the thing is, and I had the same trouble with my "Old Love lens" the
Vivitar series 1 90mm 1:2.5..I know I've had the apeture work with the lens mounted with the bellows and the dslr camera, but it was a might tricky... I've had it work some time ago, but its been some time ago...When I go to stop down the aperture blades don't move...so its always too much light...any ideas or routine proceedures? thanks Gene

Many FD lenses and some auto adapters have a movable ring that says something like <--A M-->. Rotate it to the Manual direction and you will have full manual aperture control. Hopefully this is the correct solution...Ray

Thanks Ray for the reply, I did figure it out,,,,but my my adapter doesn't have that option.
in fact I think I need a better not the cheap one I currently have and its a loose fitting thing.. If you know of a stable one I would appreciate it...I did get the Vivitar to work correctly once again, but the new canon 100mm macro manual ring doesn't seem to work.. but no regrets as I have taken some shots that I will post soon and think the apeture does not manually/ if at all does work.
however live shoot does compensate for such a thing.....
I'll post them with this next article...Thanks again Ray.

Sorry just saw this. I had the same problem when I obtained my fd 200 f4 macro. I now use a novoflex adapter which does the job brilliantly ( once I realised I should read the instructions that came with the adapter)

Before I got that adapter this helped me heaps:
