Better have a deep wallet for the keys in XF, not to mention most of the early mintmarked dates. Not as expensive as buffs, but pretty close.

Mercury-Dimes
Three of the coins from my #1 set of Mercury dimes. This Album is almost all FSB's. Only about 5 more to go to complete. And these three are all FSB.
Set #1 is 1 of 12 sets all in Whitman Classic Albums.

before you get too set on the XF+ minimum, you might want to price the 1916D.

While the keys are pretty expensive, there are some others that are pricey in that grade. It is a fun set and I am trying to stick above XF with mine too. You can see my progress in my signature.

OP mentioned full date set, as opposed to full date AND mint-mark set. Huge difference in price.

Certainly is. Most expensive Merc I own, graded 66FB, with a gold CAC sticker to boot. Likely a 7FB upon resubmission, which I won't do.

Thanks!! I plan on full date full mintmark set do a dansco Mercury dime book. My Washington quarter and roosevelts. I went for near BU and aside for the 1930's high dollar coins they are near there now.. 1942-1998 are all mint state the philly coins from 1932-1941 are mint state and the rest aside from the 32D are xf at best.. With the Mercury dimes I'm going to probably go the route of the buffalos and do the best I can. Hopefully luck is on my side! Its fun to imagine the history behind these coins!!

With Mercury dimes the real challenge if looking for the 1945 with FSB's. Possibly the most expensive coin in the set.

I have an almost-complete Mercury dime set.... missing only the 1916-D Holy Grail. Since I wasn't very fussy with the grade the set came together quickly and inexpensively.
