I'm wanting to buy the key dates for the Lincoln and indian heads with a condition of MS65 or there abouts. I obviously want PCGS graded, but I've come across talk about fake slabs. ebay is attractive because of the cheaper price. is ebay OK for graded coins? if buying locally, would I have to pay sales tax? I guess it depends on if it's a private transaction of not. Can you get good deals at coin shows? what has been everyone else's experience?

how about on here or auction houses like Stack's Bowers? do they verify authenticity or just simply sell the coin?

For my more expensive purchases, I stick with reputable dealers and reputable auction houses. There are bargains elsewhere, but they come with an increase in risk.

If you go to an auction house, there is a buyer's fee that can add 30% to the price of a coin. Maybe not your best option. If you choose ebay, buy from a reputable seller that also has a physical coin store, such as Legacy Coins or Rare Coin Wholesalers. They can usually be safe. They usually offer a lifetime guarantee of authenticity. Anywhere else, the level of risk is elevated. Once you receive the coin, have it checked out by as many people as possible within the return time frame.

Check the CCF blacklist in the ebay, eCrater, PayPal forum down below on the home page. AVOID Centsles!
