I saw a post about this on VAMworld and thought it was interesting enough to post over here.

This one has me puzzled though "1921 $1 PCGS SP64". A discovery coin that has a normal High Relief design, but with a sandblasted and antiqued finish.

I would like to see close ups of all of them, so if there were any in the wild we can find them!

Rest in Peace

That is one funky looking Peace. It kind of makes you wonder if some one was bored.

Whatever the rarity, the is one ugly looking coin. I'd rather put that money into a MS67 or MS-68 Peace dollar.

The story behind the discovery of a pair of 1922 proof Peace dollars earlier this year is interesting, the fact they came with documentation, makes them an easy to nail down proof (which can be difficult in this series).

Were talking $250,000+ coins here with the pedigree of proof paperwork from the mint director!

Yup someone is going to pony up some big bucks for these. Only problem is how many more of these "might" just pop up which makes the determination of overall rarity difficult.

The envelope said "one of twenty" and there are 13 now.

Ken, are you referring to the sand blasted antiqued finish 1921 Peace dollar?

What does an antiqued sandblast finish look like?

Thanks for the link to the CoinWorld article Westcoin. I now understand that there are only 13 known examples of proof Peace dollars with pedigree. This stuff is way out of my league. I was just curious when I read the PCGS article and saw the words "antiqued" "Sandblasted" finish.
