No key dates, pretty common ones actually. I liked how these looked so I ordered them.

This one has some serious scratches or bagmarks but I like the character and color on it. There was a really nice toned coin that got away and this one is not nearly as nice, but again I like it! Some will find it ugly most likely.

Nice looking pieces. The MS61 piece is a true 61, not a market-graded 58. :)

I think I get you, but can you explain a little? I know the old holders has stricter grading. Still not sure what you mean completely.

So what do you guys think about the dark scratched up coin? I love the orange and the rugged look. What do you think? I actually think that light orange toning is beautiful.

Wow, some very beautiful gold pieces! I wish Korean Empire gold coins were less expensive.......they are beautiful yet so many exist that they are just out of my price range.
Rest in Peace

Very nice John! I have decided to put together a collection of indian quarter eagles too, like I did with my half eagles....but I will mostly be buying AU pieces, not lustrous beauties like these.

I've put together a couple complete sets of these in the past. From my experience, you can get good value with the small ANACS holder coins -- every one I have sent to PCGS crossed in the same grade, yet I was able to purchase them at a discount to PCGS holdered coins. Be careful on the 1911-D -- be sure you get a "strong D". I think the 1911-D is currently undervalued (as is the rest of the series), so if you can afford it, go for it. The 1914 is A LOT tougher than you may think -- same goes for the 1910. I would not purchase these coins raw due to a large number of counterfeits. The Akers book on this series is an excellent reference if you can find it. Good Luck!

I really like these coins I'm lucky enough to have got two of them of 1913, and they both have the same scratches on the reverse side, i'v looked at as many of the date as I can find and have found one other with the same marks...

TiredWarror, thanks. This thread is from some weeks back and that coin showed above is still pretty new to me... but I made a major purchase of a key date coin which I should have in my hands soon (shown in another thread not too far down).

I also love these coins. I can spend all my time looking at them.

Image of the toned coin did not load, just as well, I would avoid toned coins in this series altogether. The 1915 looks great. Thanks for posting.
