Does anyone have any experience with shipping coins through the Global Shipping Program? It sounds like a pretty good deal to me, but I have yet to use it. Especially interesting to me is the 'undeliverable items' policy- even if your coin can't be legally imported to the destination country, you get to keep the buyer's money and ebay refunds the buyer.

It's a ripoff to Canadian buyers, as it charges custom fees on coins which only CBSA can remit. and there is a surcharge on top to the buyer, the US sellers can opt out, fair shipping charges are fine, but this program is unfair, a 50.00 coin will have a 40.00 charge.

As soon as I see a seller using it for shipments to Canada, I stop looking. As noted, the charges are ridiculous and pretty much make it so you'll eliminate any potential Canadian buyers. I'm not sure what the charges are like to other countries.

There are times when I find a coin that would fit well in a set, but because of the fees, I don't make the purchase.

I have similar experiences. I've never bought with the global shipping program before and never will. If I see a coin I like with it I will message the seller and ask for a shipping change and explain the sitution. Only once have I been turned down and that guy said he didn't ship to Canada, apparently he didn't know that he was using the global shipping program or what it was.
The program is a really stupid idea, pretty much deters any buyer, it's bad enough that they only offer priority shipping on any item which is $14 in itself. Then you add on the import charges which are super high. And voila! You've got a $70 shipping charge on a $100 item.
It's a waste of time. Nobody ever opts for it.

From the selling point of view, I despise it. All it has done for me is cause problems and cost me time.

I'm another buyer who doesn't like it Bob. Look at this: Cost of coin $295.00 Postage $12.83 So the total for an ordinary purchase would be $307.85 UK customs will charge me import duty for such an item at 5% which would be $15. But under the Global Shipping Programme Pitney Bowes will charge me $69.99Which is $54 more than needed and doesn't even include postage! Bottom line is I'd have to pay £31 more for an item costing me £180 and for what? Nothing as far as I can tell. Just not going to bid is my response to that.

A lot of Sellers were automatically opted in to the GSP by ebay. That was mean and not well thought out. All ebay saw was $$$$ signs (which is on par with everything they do). I've never used it and never will as it is a complete ripoff.

It's a nice idea which was executed with utter incompetence. They've no clue how to sort out all the differing import duties and categories, and it's a complete cluster.

Yikes- I'm glad I asked because it seemed pretty innocent to me. I guess I should have known that ebay would have fudged this one up too.
