Hey all, just had a quick question. I just sold my first package on ebay, and was wondering if you HAVE to use their print label button( I currently dont own a printer), or can I simply just hand write their information and mail it that way?

Also, do you pay fees on the paypal money you get also ?

Thanks all,

Aseegz

You can just write the information without printing a label. And yes, Paypal does charge you fees.

You do not need to use their system to do a label BUT there are things you will need to do.

1). Make sure you use Delivery Confirmation (or Signature Delivery Confirmation depending on the value of the item) to protect yourself from an "Item Not Received" dispute/complaint.

2). Make sure you enter that tracking number to that item on your "Sold Items" page.

3). Be sure and leave "feedback".

Doing 2&3 of the above ASAP lets your Buyer know that the item is on it's way.

If you print your labels through ebay, stamps.com, usps.com etc you can get a shipping discount and do not have to stand in line at the post office.

Look for a cheap printer and start printing your own labels if you start selling in volume.

Good luck!

For awhile I didn't have my printer set up at home, so I "printed" to an Adobe PDF file, which I emailed to myself and printed at work. You do get a reduced postage rate by going through eBay/Paypal link, but yes there are fees, that eat up the savings, they also email you customer as soon as the label is created, so that helps cut down on stuff you need to do later. It is pretty streamlined for me now. I just need to get a postage scale, as a few times I've been off in my guesstimate of a packages weight (not coins). I take my packages to the USPS office and drop them off, getting them scanned in by a clerk so I have an actual receipt of delivery to the USPO. I don't always trust my mail to make it from my mailbox outside. Though a few times I've let my mailman take the package, they have always arrived without fail.
