Might sound like a silly question, but let's say I have a LWC with an old cleaning.....what is the fastest way to let it naturally age to diminish the effects of the old cleaning, and have it either become market acceptable, or possibly get a non-details grade from a TPG?

Most methods of accelerated aging would be considered unnatural, I would think. I'm sure the windowsill method will be suggested. Otherwise I couldn't tell you.
Its also important to understand that not every cleaned coin is fixable. I would even say that most aren't. No amount of time, toning, or aging can fix most problem coins.

Use it as a pocket piece.

Thanks. This one is uncirculated, so I don't want do anything aggressive at all. So far the window sill is a good suggestion. The coin is currently out being graded, but I'm assuming that it will come back with a details grade since I had it on the 'grading' forum and most said it looked cleaned. Hopefully my photo skills didn't do it justice. Here's the link, and the link to the ebay listing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/30115616237...RK:MEBIDX:IThttps://goccf.com/t/180784

Fairview Coins is usually pretty honest with their listings, but it doesn't mean they missed this one. They list a lot of their coins as cleaned, whizzed, etc. If it comes back as cleaned I'll definitely let them know and see what they say. I still like the coin.....maybe they would offer partial refund. BTW both photos are not what it looks like in-hand. It does look better. I'm just not experienced enough at buying raw coins, and I rarely will buy one anymore, but this one grabbed me and I "thought" I got a good deal.

If you want it to tone, maybe you can put the coin in a plastic ziplock bag with other coins and keep it in a cool dry place. I had a bag of nickels that were all BU and they all developed a beautiful tone from storage. Looks really nice.

Copper coins, particular Indian Heads and LWC, are always tough to gauge from pictures

This one just has that brass cleaner look to me. My grandma used brass cleaner on some of her LWC and British Pennies, so I know the look. Not just color, but greasy surface look.

Drop it in an old manilla coin envelope and leave it in direct sunlight on a window sill. Make sure the window is not one of the newer ones that blocks out UV and is double paned, that will keep the sun from doing it's thing. If you don't notice a change in a few weeks your envelope has already given up it's outgassing properties, Try and find old paper that is heavy in sulphur content. Old Wyate Raymond National coin albums are known for their toning properties as are mint set cardboard holders from the 40's and 50's, though by now many of these have outgassed so much they are now inert and won't help very much.

Cleaning lives on for a long time. Some conder tokens I own have old cleaning patina, likely 100-150 years old and you can still tell. Getting a layer of dirt over it will help hide it (I found one to be cleaned when I got the dirt off the surface) - handle it regularly for a bit.
