My LCS had a Maria Theresa Thaler the last time I was in there, I was wondering what would a good price be?

Also how much silver is in one and what is the fineness?

It was a 1780X so not original, did I see something saying they have not been made since the 1850's?

Is there any way to tell what year it was struck in?

Thanks for looking

I consider these bullion so I wouldn't pay to much over melt for them. Got my first one for $16 and my second for $10. There are some that do have collectors value but you'll have to wait for the experts to chime in about those.

These have been struck almost continuously right up to the present. Determining precisely which restrike a specimen represents is something of a black art I've not yet mastered.

The fineness is .833 and the ASW just a smidgen over 3/4 of an ounce. I've bought them recently in the $16 to $20 range.

Colligo ergo sum

The recent ones are worth pretty much melt, maybe a little premium.
Some of the older restrikes are worth $1000's.
Yours is likely worth a little over melt IF Gem Uncirculated.

Thanks for the replies all

It's not mine yet, IF it's a good price (I did ask but was not paying attention so don't remember) I'll think about picking it up next month.

Some points to note. The "x" is best understood as a hallmark. It was first used ion 1750/51. Krause really confuses everyone.....their entries on the MTT are idiotic. They've been told numerous times but have refused to correct there info. Modern restrikes date back to as early as 1817(my discoveries in Austrian state archives).Early restrikes date 1781 - 1820 (8 year overlap with modern restrike).

Thanks for the info austrokiwi

I'm very familiar with the quality of Krause

I'll have to wait till next month to grab it, this month I blew my coin budget on 6 Mexican Peso's (the 72% kind) 14 dimes and 2 quarters from Canada and a 1922 British Florin, that they had mislabeled as Australian

I also picked up 4 War Nickels in Air-tites, I popped them out and put my nice ones in them.

STAY TUNED.... I'll post picks of the MTT when I get it, if they have not sold it to someone else

I think these 'coins' are lovely.
I buy them for a bit over spot pretty much any time my local bullion dealer gets them in stock.
Am up to almost a dozen now. Here's the latest, an $18 gem.
