Well I just started placing large orders from my pickup bank a couple weeks ago, five boxes of nickels to be exact. Of the first order only one was all new 2011s with the RCM tape on the unopened box. That's ok, one box I can deal with. This weeks order was all five boxes sealed from the RCM, all 2011s. I am discouraged to say the least. Before this I was doing one to three boxes a week and only had this happen maybe three times. I can't switch to dimes because they are all sorted and you only get 2000 and newer in those boxes, I've never done quarters, but could start now. So my choices for switching denominations are limited to say the least. What would you guys do if you were me? Keep doing the nickels until I start getting the regular machine wrapped rolls, or CWRs again? switch to quarters? Open an account at another bank? I am low on ideas here and would appreciate some advice from those that have been here before.

Yes the ARP sure does hurt us coin roll hunters doesn't it. It sounds like if they have any "good boxes" at all there would be one or 2 in the whole bank which is why its now not worth it for most of us to even bother. Asking the teller for unsealed boxes is an idea. Maybe you should wait a while too and then come back and check. Also your idea of switching banks, different banks should have different things right because if they don't then why are other people doing better. Where I live I can say that coin roll hunting is essentially dead for what I think 1. the higher mintage and shipment of new coins which don't seem to ever go away. 2. the ARP. And 3. other searchers people getting the stuff before we do. So my overall advice to you would be to well, I don't know, try the USA if you live by there, check other banks. Good luck!

You know, the funny thing to me is that until now, I had been doing very well as far as finds, had a nice average per box. I saw another of your posts, and I think we don't live all that far from each other, I'm just outside White Rock. So I'm not all that far from Washington state, that is an option. I've been considering it before now. I may open another local account and see how that goes. I think first I'm going to order another couple boxes from my regular bank and see if I keep getting sealed ones. Then I'll try some other banks.

Douglas, I have not had any real luck when getting full boxes (other than pennies), however with the nickels (when I get the church hill wrapped rolls) they are full of pre 81 nickels as well as us nickels. What I do is I ask for 10 to 20 rolls (the banks normally wrap them in blocks of 10) of nickels, along with 10 dimes, and 3-5 rolls of quarters.

I got a white roll of quarters yesterday, which I automatically thought was a Church hill roll, and was not happy, but in actual fact it said Translink on it? I did not know that they (the metro bus company) had their own rolls? Anyway the roll was full of US and pre 2000 quarters, so I guess they go through so much coinage they wrap them up and sell to the bank.
