I've heard talk that there is a recognized Kennedy Collection that is called a "Half Set". Don't believe that I've heard of this before. I know that there is a lot of coins that are needed for a full set, but what makes up a "half set"?

Personally, I'm doing a smaller set by only collecting one per year (date set) instead of the full date and mint set. I know some only do the circulating mint marks (So P,D) for each year, which is what I presume is the half set. Most years have P, D, S Proof and S silver proof, so it's a big undertaking to try and collect every date, mint and proof at nearly 200 coins.

Its all about whatever you want to do. I myself am doing a Kennedy half set of the P and D circulation strikes (and S for the silver bicentennial coin). To add in the proofs would be a more expensive undertaking than I am willing to do. So I'm not.

Most would consider a short set to be just the P&D coins. I would call 64-70 a mini set.

Every year it gets harder and harder to complete the full set. I'm almost there (missing 12 coins). But I am taking my time due budget considerations. I should have it completely up to date in a couple of years. Unless the mint releases a lot of new Kennedy coins this year.

Ghost, unfortunately they are. Four silver, one gold and two clad all done with the original 1964 design.

I'm pretty much just doing the proofs or SMS coins to make it even smaller, but nicer looking coins. So I'll only have about 50.
