I suggest you post images of the other side, as well as more closer images of the front side. I am sure the community can help you with this.

Not my area but I can tell you it is most definetely Roman. My best guess would be a later issue from the Byzantine empire the eastern part of the former Roman Empire. Part from that I have nothing. If you could weigh it and provide a diameter of the coin I am absolutely certain someone here will be able to help you identify it and determine wether it is real or fake. Also a picture of the other side of the coin would help confirm its attribution.

Personally I think it looks more like a 'Nuremberg' jeton. Like this one:

The legend is too regular for a Roman coin IMHO.

As omf says, diameter (mm) and if possible weight (g) would help.

I thinking it's not roman as well.

in the first pic, 10 o'clock, is that a 4 point
star symbol between the letters 'T' and 'P' ?
may also be another at 7 o'clock?

I believe I can read H I S P A N on reverse. Looks like a 'modern' coin (17th-18th century) to me !

OK, not a jeton. I think I can just make out ISPA around 12- 1 o'clock on the new image. Could therefore read HISPANIA?

Possibly Spanish colonies then?

The ruler looks like Louis I The Great. That is in the 14th century.

Reverse legend is VTRVMQ VIRT PROTEGO, followed by the date (hard to make out; 1726?). With the visible V D G HISPAN, this should be a copper two or four maravedis of Philip V of Spain.
