Don't you just love that giddy /excited feeling you get when you're about to get a great, and large, deal? The anticipation is killing me!

All I can think about is my first Maria Theresa Thaler...

If it's still there...

and IF the price is not insane...

Not really a big acquisition but I know the feeling. A few more days and I'll go and see.

I'm going to buy a group of coins that, basically, I'd be able to sell a chunk of what I buy to cover my cost and walk away with 5-6-7 really choice coins. Or if I opt to sell, I should be able to pocket an easy 50% profit. If it happens, I'll definitely be updating this thread.

EDIT; We're talking a $4k outlay too, so it's not like I'm buying $100 in coins and keeping a few choice Washington quarters or something.

If it's a deal with a stranger than involves money orders - I would run! #experience

That's the feeling I have now as I finish paying for my 1914 quarter eagle Indian. Can't wait. It also set me back around that amount.

But.... Pics or it didn't happen! :)

I'm well-versed in how to protect myself against getting ripped off. I always insist on Paypal (CC chargeback in addition to Paypal protection) or in-person transactions.

Maybe this thread would have been better off if it were to be created on Friday then. There are no pics of coins or even mention of what coins are to be received. There are no questions being asked. There are no numismatic opinions stated. There isn't even any collector excitement of getting that one special coin, which is what I thought when I clicked the title.

What we do have is a borderline boastful statement of how someone will try to make some money on a deal which isn't even that large or finalized. Good thread.

We all enjoy the hobby differently, and that's all I have to say. I get excited about adding coins to my collection at a cost basis of zero dollars... for me it's all about the hunt for good coins and good deals. Did I jump the gun a bit with this post? Yeah, probably, but I was pretty hyped up about the seller being so willing to cut me a great deal for a cash offer. I'm not going to apologize for being excited at the prospect of a great deal.

As for the lack of details, I never mention the details of deals that have yet to be fully consummated due to the potential risk of any one party backing out. A gentlemans agreement is easily broken.

Sounds really good, and yeah, I definitely know the feeling, I've gotten a few choice coins on the cheap on which I could sell and recoup my cost plus about 40%-60% profit. A lot of High-Grade and Rare stuff too that I just get the jitters every time I look at them in my collection.

I'll definitely be checking back to see what you landed

One of the many reasons I only buy coins at coin shows. No lost in mail, no wrong coins sent, no scams, no postage, no insurances, no shipping costs and on and on. Only coins.

I completely understand this. I like to see pictures of what people get, and I am genuinely interested to see people get items for their collections they are excited about. But it is hard to get excited about text. The only thing worse is text promising pictures. I always wonder, why didn't you just wait to post until there were pics?

I wish this was more of an option for me. There is only one coin show each year in my town. ebay has been getting on my nerves a whole lot lately. It is virtually my only avenue at this point, though.
