Currently on the History Channel Rick is negotiating a 1791 Cent. Waiting on the experts opinion. I can tell you the owners asking price of $2000 is fairly high. Coin does not look anywhere near high grade maybe VF-XF by tv shots making worth closer to like $300 lets see what the "expert" says.

1791 Washington Cent? Even in VF, it's a coin worth around $500-$700 IMO, both small and large eagle.

Hopefully that seller can find the guy that offered him 2K. We might be seeing him again on the show if he can't.

My all time favorite numismatic related episode is the one where Brett Bogus (that's his real name!) was trying to unload a bunch of Republic of Texas currency. "Finest known, none better, best there are, you'll never see any others like these.." blah, blah, blah.
They called in the "expert" and he busted Brett's bubble in no time flat.

Chumlee probably picked it up, put it in a vending machine for some deep fried fat covered with chocolate, and Rick had to pay the asking price for it. Sadly this show doesn't appear on demand anymore that I can find in case something interesting comes in to learn about it, and the people running the place are too annoying to bother watching the show live where you cannot fast forward past their nonsense ans TV sensationalism.
Would anyone base any real item value on a show like this? I remember something similar years ago on TV where people could bring things to get appraised, but never thought anyone really paid any attention other than to the novelty of the show?

While the cast are a bunch of idiots, the "experts" really do know their stuff and give good value estimates on what people might pay for things. The history lesson on items is also quite informative.
By the way, Chumlee lost 95 lbs for the new season and Corey lost 192 lbs

Don't kid yourself, none of them are idiots. It's all choreographed for your entertainment. Almost made a funny....get it 'Corey'-ographed?
stampvirgin, they told him his coin was worth several hundred dollars, and no deal. The seller went looking for the guy that offered him 2K years ago. Good luck.

I LOVED the Antiques Roadshow on PBS! I even watched all the re-runs when they were shown on netflixs a while back.
