I was cleaning my grandfathers house and found a jar of old coins. Among them was the one in the pictures. If anyone has any idea what it is i'd appreciate it. http://imgur.com/a/OIcz9Thank you

Nominally, it looks like a cob gold doubloon, but a lot of investigation would be needed to confirm the authenticy.
First question: What is the weight?

The closest I have to that coin is a silver cob (from the ship wreck Concepcion 1641)

I'd be wary of a fake here--looks like generic "pirate treasure" to me. If you can verify it's silver or gold, that's a step in the right direction--tourist items are usually colored or painted base metal. Did he have any other valuable coins in his collection? If not, this was probably something he picked up at a beach shop at some point.

I rather think it might be French (or one of the French states): Center shield with 3 fleur de lis an the other side also fleur de lis (Louis XII?)

Looking closer at the coin after reading your comments it does look like on the cross side there are the fleur de lis and on the shield side there are more fleur de lis and what looks like a VIII on the right edge.

It looks like this - whether it's real or not I do not know Mexico. "Royal" 8 Escudos, 1714-Mo-J. Fr --; cf. KM World Coins, 1700-1800, p. 753; Grove 888. 26.94 grams Philip V, 1700-1746. Crowned arms, value of VIII in field. Reverse: Cross within quadrilobe, angled scepters. Trivial planchet flaw below date, otherwise remarkable centering and strike. Excessively rare. About 1/3rd of the way down on this page http://sunkentreasure.com/gbroyal.htm

I would like to thank everyone for the effort you put forth here that is pretty great how fast you guys got me that information with those two pictres. A bit more detail in the next step of finding out if this thing is real or just somthing he picked up in his life as a novelty. The view from the side looks like to thin coins that were somehow made one(solder?) see picture. If I incorrect on this what would be my next step on getting an idea of this thing is a replica or not? Thank you.

The line along the middle looks to be a casting seam - the originals didn't have one of those.
