Another Raw Seated Liberty Proof Saved From TPGing!

Nelrak Pillar of the Community United States 974 Posts	Posted 08/15/2007 01:26 am I figured I'd post this since it's not too often now-a-days raw proof coins like this one are seen out there in the slabbed-crazed world we collect in! As previously mentioned, finally was able to acquire the 1873 Seated Liberty Proof Dime. I am calling it a PR63/PR64. This coin looks great and has some marvelous toning, especially on the reverse. This coin part of a package deal I got and was cracked out of a hard plastic holder from the 40s/50s which housed the 1891 Proof Seated Liberty quarter, I posted earlier, and a 1870 Seated Liberty 1/2 Dime, which I still have on layaway. I am posting several picture in order to illustrate the different looks this dime has based upon the angles and lighting. It is highly reflective and frosty cameo but that is difficult to show with my current camera and lighting techniques I get in my bathroom. Enjoy! In the picture above, that is toning not scratches to the left of RICA and in the mirrors on the right of ITED. Very few hairline scratches can be seen using a 16x loupe, only one is faintly visible with the 4x/6x glass at a certain angle and lighting. This is a direct view looking straight down with direct lighting (above) and with indirect lighting (below). Interesting contrast! Report this Post to the Staff

But any how I started thinking about it and I went out and bought another 7070. This one is going to be the "Coins I don't need to upgrade" 7070! I may concentrate on them after I pay off the MS63 1908 No motto St. G, I ended up putting some money down on today...
