Last week I got some coins from my boss afetr she has attended the world championship soccer in Brazil. She also made a small side tour into Argentina.

I immediately noticed that the coin I got was on an incomplete planchet, including the famous Blakesley effect 180° opposite of the incomplete part.

However, I also noticed a die difference between the piece that I just got and the one in my collection: the 25 on the reverse is small or big (see pictures below).

I also noticed that the piece in my collection actually has an imprint of the reverse on the obverse (incuse, the outline of the bottom part of the 25 is visible above the building) and an imprint of the obverse on the reverse (incuse, the outline of the building is visible in between the 25). Unfortunately, I was not able to capture these details in the pics.

Does any body have an Argentina 1994 25 centavos CuNi with this big 25 in his collection? I believe the small 25 is the standard type, that is described in Krause World Coins Catalog.

The thing that you are seeing on the bottom of the 25 is probably a die clash.

These two are completely normal 1994 25 centavos. Just that the one with the thicker lettering is KM#110, and the one with the thinner lettering is KM#110a. Just varieties of the same type.

Thank for your reaction Matteproof. However, it should be noted that both pieces are CuNi alloy, although they look yellowish in these pictures. The weight of both pieces is 6,1 grammes. KM110 is an aluminum-bronze version of 5,4 grammes and KM110a is the CuNi version of 6,1 grammes.

For 1993 3 versions are known by Krause:
an aluminum-bronze with fine lettering
an aluminum-bronze with bold lettering
an CuNi with bold lettering

For 1994 only 1 version is known by Krause:
a CuNi with bold lettering

According to Krause, no versions with small lettering were made in after 1993 or in CuNi. That's the actual reason why I am asking this question.

It looks like a clipped planchet to me too.
