Nice condition. Excellent photos. I am a Lincoln guy. I occassionally look through nickel rolls to keep from getting burned out. I have managed to find about 30 doubled dies and countless RPMs over the past five years or so. This one is in really nice condition.

thx, what are some of your favorite Jefferson nickel finds.. seal006 What do you use as reference.. I purchased this one from member here off ebay for reference piece... I learn better from coin in hand and I believe once I have one in hand the second and third come quicker. Sites like coppercoins are awesome but no real nickel equivalent other then brians variety coins which is limited to his coins or ngc or psgs coin facts which dont help much. When I search for DDO or DDR I check all War Nickels then 1959-1969, then 1981 and 2005 and rpms anything with mint mark 1939-s through 1972-s, 1984-d

Ocala there are some nice doubled dies from 39-58 too that you might be missing and don't forget the 2004 DDO.

My favorite was a 1964-D DDR I pulled from a Brinks roll. It had nice doubling on MONTECELLO and FIVE CENTS. As far as website references, I do love Brian's he has great photos and a wide selection. varietynickels.com has some, not a lot. Wexler has some on his website, and then this one from CONECA conecaonline.org/content/Top100Jeffs.htm

Yes indeed - would be great to have a Jefferson resource like Coppercoins is for Lincolns. I found this the other day, but it's very difficult to type id. Still looking for a 1981 D - that's a sweet looking specimen!!

Brian has coauthored a couple of books with Wexler. He is a very good person to deal with as well. I have been working on a set of the CONECA Top 100 Lincoln RPMs. I have bought coins from both Wexler and Brian.

Here is another site of a great guy. Eric is a collector, that sells extras to further his collecting needs. He is mostly a Lincoln guy, but his photos make good reference material as well. He also posts some not so popular varieties which is good when you think you find something but cannot find any reference to it. https://sites.google.com/site/rpmcoins/

I am once again looking at reopening my website. I am in the process of setting it up. I am mainly a Lincoln guy as well, so that will be the focus. Stay tuned, I will announce here on CCF when I reopen. Of course offering a nice discount to "family" members.

Hi guys - was rather engaged the last few days and not able to respond. Thanks for the information. I frequently use the sites you folks are using to try and type a Jefferson nickel. I suspect as Jeffersons become as Lincolns then the sites established may become more complete. Time will tell I suppose. As for my DDR, I looked at the CONECA listings and noted that the larger majority of DDRs occur on Proof coins and just a few are for business strikes. That said, there are a few that tout the EPU and USA doubling and of course...no pictures (just descriptions). So, always interested in new sites to check such as the one Seal posted. Perhaps I might conclusively type ID the coin, but until then, just neat to look at. I was particularly surprised to find a 1963 as the vast majority of circulated nickels are too worn to tell. Thanks again!
