These pennies all seem at least MS60 and higher. Do I crack open the package and get the coins slabbed? Are they worth getting graded? Or do I keep it the way it is and sell together? Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Hi Kafka, We have 3 sets of these small Newfoundland small cents, yours are very nice, if it was me, I would keep them in that holder they look great.

We love the Newfoundland coins..

Edit.. Also, look and see if the 1940 has a repunched date and the 1947 is always hard to find in that condition.

Hi ShaftA- And I thought I was so special. 3 sets! I've checked the '40 and it doesn't look like a re-punch. Here's a close up. By the way, what value would you place on the set? Thanks.

Well on the plus side, your set is certainly much nicer than the one in the link, all of those appear to be polished or cleaned...

I cannot imagine either set selling in the $500 range...

It all depends, if you sell them raw, you will more than likely do better selling them as a set, if you get a few of the better ones graded and they come back as 63's or 64's, then I think you will do better that way, but I think the 38 and 42 are the only ones that have a shot at that high a grade... If the set was mine, I would more than likely list with an optimistic buy it now price, but nowhere in the realm of $500...

Thanks jdmern. I guess I can always get some of them graded and if they don't come back high grade then stick them back in the holder. Or I could do the $999,999.99, sit back and watch the offers roll in. :)

In this market get them graded professionally. Trying to sell them "Raw" will not achieve the maximum outcome and is wishful thinking.

Nice coins. The toning on that '40 is really attractive.
