Is this a DD on the mintmark, or am I seeing things?
Thanks

I think it is just a worn out coin.

You're not seeing things. There might have been some Mechanical Doubling on that dime when it was made. It has, however, taken quite a hit right on the MM. I think most of what we see there now is a result of that hit.

Are you confusing an RPM with a doubled die?

John1, are you seeing a RPM? If so ....HELP! please.

My best guess was maybe some MD and a hit on the MM.

It is not a RPM. Just Machine damage. On the 1982 mint marks, they tend to look like that. Check out the cents and you will see what I'm talking about. I think the mint mark punch was needing replaced because of punch damage I see on many dies that year. (IE: Note the centers of the mint marks.)
Rest in Peace

Thanks for that explanation, coop.

I've seen a number of D MM that look just like the one pictured. I didn't realize that the center of the MM was the real clue.
