Bought these guys from the junk tray at a LCS when I was on vacation over the weekend. The Franklin almost looks polished to me, which is fine since I got it for around melt, but it's a hole filler for now nonetheless. And the Merc is nicer than any of the 3 I already have, so why not.

I'm impressed with previous 4 posters ability to tell if they're polished. The Franklin looks ok and the Merc looks cleaned to me imo. Like you say, I'd take them for melt all day long.

Looks like it's been rubbed a bit. Doesn't look like it had a buffer or polishing compound taken to it.

I don't think so. To much dirt inside the letters and numbers. If ever cleaned it was done a long time ago. Look around the bell and note the dirt. Same with some of the lettering. Just to much dirt. As I said if ever cleaned at all, a long time ago. Now the Merc. YES for real, cleaned good.

I think it looks like an excellent hole filler for now and when you get your "prime example" it will be a great start on your "B" set of Franklin's.
