I see this guys coins come up in my "of interest" items on the ebay homepage. I purchased one from him a long time ago and MAN does he use lighting to his advantage. This is the most recent one. He puts that little disclaimer that he can't give a numerical rating to the coin so he labels it Almost Uncirculated. He also plays the "It's silver" card, but that bubble burst a while ago. A Morgan dollar's is worth about $15 in silver and he's asking for mint state prices! His pictures are like looking at someone through beer goggles. Once you get it in hand/sober up, you realize that she's not as good looking as she was in pictures. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1882-MORGAN...221528647664Sorry. I just had to vent that steam.

Seller is pretty clear that "This coin is NON-CERTIFIED and not professionally graded by one of eBays's authorized grading companies". There are thousands of Morgans for sale at any given to time on ebay. Maybe just let price be a factor when shopping (meaning, dont buy it if you think the price is too high). Not sure what this particular seller is doing that is making you call him out like this?

I don't see much wrong here. He actually includes a very long description in the auction which states that the coins may have been cleaned, polished, etc in the past. This is good information and what I usually look for. Yes, he puts About Uncirculated in the description, but pretty much everyone does that. What I don't like is sellers that just say AU and nothing else as if the coin is totally fine. When they have disclaimers stating there may be problems, you should adjust your potential bidding accordingly. If you're not interested in the risk, don't bid. And if you don't like the item, just return it. I would never take a chance on something that didn't allow for returns.

Looks like it was attached to my cat's scratching post. Pass.

An obviously cleaned circulated coin. Unfortunately, there are people with limited knowledge that will end up buying this one.

That seller makes me bristle. Everything he sells is polished, thrashed or otherwise victimized.

That seller is one of my excluded seller list winners and I don't even view his entries. There is about 50 on my list that don't get a look from me.

Nip coin: how to you exclude sellers?
I think what is irritating is there are many acts of omission. So there is really no description of the actual coin others that a poorly taken picture, it is clearly scratched up and not a problem free AU. Also my guide has problem free '82s at about $32 retail.
I think this is the type of thing that has caused me to stay away from Morgans. There seem to be more of this type of sleazy sales than with other issues.

So the coin is overpriced. Is that something new to ebay, overpricing your coins for sale? It is not like he is trying to get over on you here. I have had sellers send me coins completely different then the listing than expect me to pay to return them. No wonder ebay changed their policy requiring sellers to pay for return shipping on "item not as described" cases.
