I need to disappoint you. In 1894 there was no federal shooting festival in Switzerland...
The federal shooting talers were actually accepted as silver 5 francs in Switzerland and are highly collectable.

This however is a medal of a cantonal shooting festival, that up to today still exists (see website http://www.tcvd2014.ch ). This is probably less collectable than the federal pieces, but is still a nice conversation piece.

I found a news paper extract of 1894 online that is describing all the different prices of this shooting festival: retro.seals.ch/cntmng?pid=cov-001:1894:32::365
Apparently, this medal exist in bronze, silver and gold.

Jupke, thank you for info.
I know that it is not taler, which I clearly stated :). So, there is no disappointment for me.

I know there are shooting medals catalogs. Anybody have them?
