Does anyone have any experience using the Canon software to tether your dSLR to a Mac? I'm considering a purchase and just want to make sure the software is compatible with Mac's as well as PC's.
Rest in Peace

Not I; don't speak Apple here. I'm thinking Ray will have an idea, and he'll definitely read this thread when he sees it.

The software supposedly works with Macs, but neither I nor any of the folks I've worked with have used them. Hopefully someone here has some Mac experience...

Hello, forgive the late reply,

I am a mac guy and was able to get it to work.

The software I got with the camera was for PC so did not work. However I bought used so if you buy new I'd expect you won't have any problems.

I had to look around on the internet and download from a few Canon sites before hitting on the proper ones. It seems some would only 'update' but not give you the original software. If I recall correctly the best site was an official Canon site from Europe.

Once installed everything worked as it was supposed to, with full remote control.

Let me know if you need some help.

I use both, primarily Apple all Canon tethering has worked with my Macbook Pros and desktop Macs since I started using them, never an issue, (well once with Firewire and a 1Ds), but that was resolved. Everything works as it should.

Ok. Here is a real dinosaur asking about I Pad. We got the new one have been a Mack person since the beginning of time. Is there any way to take pictures of coins, of course, that lets you use a macro setting for detail? I know the I phones have a lens you can attach.
