I found this one tonight whiling looking through a box of proof nickels in 2x2's.

I can never get to good of a picture of proof nickels .. for me they are extremely hard to take.

I not looking to match or id it, just to see if it is a doubled die reverse.

Think I am pretty sure it is .. I found multiples..I want to check a few before I start putting them into 2x2.

on E Pluribus Unum
stronger on United States of America

On doubled dies I take them with the light falling over the devices and not usually with the light hitting directly on the devices. Also a good diffuser works better. It cuts the glare.

Do you agree it doubled die?

here is another photo test I covered all led on usb camera and put a ziplock bag over a usb led light.

I will keep trying different things, I really want to share some more nickel DDO and DDR.

This one I covered with white plastic bag over led and in image optimizer I turned black and white

well back to the drawing board.. I might need to upgrade my low budget setup..

It is a doubled die. Which number? There are many listed for the proof nickels that year. On of the years I buy rolls of proof coins to see what I can find.

See how much better the images turned out with the diffuser?

Tip of the day: When taking images of copper coins, it is easy to get the nice golden color. But on other denominations of coins the gold look may not be what you want. So I reuse the "Saturation" feature on photo shop to reduce the unwanted color. You can also use the "Mode" Selection and choose gray scale. That will turn the image into a black and white image. But I choose to reduce the hue to remove a little of the color. That warmth is nicer than the black/white color you get with gray scale.

A great image is always nice to have. Diffusing is not an expensive process. Even a curtain of a plastic grocery bag does miracles. If you have a stronger light, then try rice paper, tracing paper, white bond paper. In one setup I use, it requires two sheets to cut the glare.

Photo editing is also an art. Note the images from another site. How I edited his image and helped improve the look to the coin.

Here is one I removed the gold color from the image on 1/2 if the coin to show the difference:

Nice find. I could tell by one of the first pictures that it was a doubled dies but the second pictures really show it!
