1965 Lincoln Cent, What's with the "R" in liberty ?

I looked at other 1965 Lincoln cents and I didnt see the same issue with the "R"

I need a closer view of that device. Hard to tell what happened to it from these images.

It does look different than anything else I've seen. But the marks from the lower southwest direction makes me think it is circulation damage/machine damaged. I would hang onto it for now till you know for sure what it is. But it doesn't strike me as a hubbing issue on your coin. If it were a hubbing issue, the other devices in that area would be affected.
